Emily Petermam
Emily was born and raised in the Mini-Cassia area, with many siblings, in a modest home. Being highly sensitive, intuitive and empathic, Emily found her role and place at home to be that of nurturer and peacemaker. Happily making it her duty to help create and facilitate comfort, beauty and harmony in any space she occupied. Life was quick to give her many painful experiences and lessons learned the hard way, inspiring her to work towards the personal goal to always be a safe place for everyone. Before finding yoga, depression and anxiety rooted into Emily’s life. Unhealthy coping mechanisms, bad eating habits and old injuries all compounded and Emily no longer felt comfort in her body or safe inside her mind. Yoga wasn’t what Emily was looking for, in fact, she attended her first class entertaining the delusion that she could take a break from her workout for the day without taking a break from the gym. Emily wasn’t aware the profound change and growth yoga would help to facilitate in her life, however, once she had a taste for it there was no going back. Emily quickly fell in love with yoga and found passion introducing yoga to others. The qualities that make Emily good at serving and helping others are the same qualities that you will see in her classroom. Emily works hard at creating a safe, judgement free zone for each student to learn at their pace and thrive in. Intuition and empathy greatly influence Emily’s teaching technique, leaving students to feel that they received a tailor-made class. Emily received her 200hr RYT from Yoga Assets as well as receiving training in Yoga Nidra and aerial yoga. Emily has been teaching in a community gym space for 5 years and loves watching newbies fall in love with yoga. Her favorite is to watch someone finally be able to let go and relax in savasana. Emily truly believes in the mind and body’s ability to heal itself and is eager to help you learn to quiet the mind and still the body so that you can begin your healing journey.
